Connected TV Billboards

A Connected TV Billboard is a :15 second co-branded message that runs on the Global TV App and STACKTV. CTV Billboards are purchased as part of a Client Marketing buy or direct/linear digital buy on an avails basis. 

Availability

Guidelines

  • Must appear on the associated Global TV App or STACKTV template
  • Scripts must begin with the following:
    • “This Global TV App program is brought to you by [client name & tagline].”
    • “This STACKTV program is brought to you by [client name & tagline].”
  • Static logos or animated/video footage can be used to create CTV Billboards.
  • Corus reserves the right to determine the number and nature of images / graphics / video included in the message.
  • CTV Billboards are for CTV use only
  • Billboards on STACKTV & Global TV App are run of network (RON) and can be targeted by program or brand (and Common Industry Segments on Global TV App)

RULES & REGULATIONS:  CTV BILLBOARDS

1. Billboards on Global TV App and STACKTV CAN contain a ‘Call-to-Action’. A ‘Call-to-Action’ is anything with a verb / adjective (that the viewer enacts), examples: “Visit URL for more information”, “Available at” and “Call 1-800 number”.  For example, the following are acceptable

  • This Global TV App program is brought to you by Graham’s Velvet bathroom tissue. Available at Pharma-Save!
  • This STACKTV program is brought to you by Travel Adventures. Call 1-800-4 TRAVEL today!

2. The following are permitted in the script and visuals of a billboard:

  • Product attributes
  • Price Points
  • Sales Events
  • Contest details

3. Messaging must not be deceptive or misleading; all pertinent information must be included; it cannot disregard safety or discredit, disparage or attack another competitor’s company, product or service. For example, the following is unacceptable:

  • This STACKTV program is brought to you by Mikey’s. Our $9.99 Lunch and a Movie Pass is better than Cinestore’s. Visit us today.”

4. Pre-clearance category content in :15s billboards (Food, Alcohol, Cosmetics, Drug & Kids) must work in the spirit of Ad Standards. Client brandsells must come with necessary pre-clearances.

5. Billboards during Global TV App and STACKTV kids programming will follow all children’s advertising guidelines:

  • Products not intended for children or prohibited from sale to minors must not be advertised on kids-targeted channels.  This includes movies and books that are not appropriate for a kids demo.
  • Drugs (this includes all vitamins and natural health products), except for children’s fluoride toothpaste.

RULES & REGULATIONS: CTV Billboards for iGaming Clients

iGaming billboards on Global TV App and STACKTV must follow all iGaming Ontario and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario guidelines, including geo-targeting to Ontario only and age-gating for a 19+ audience for Pay-For-Play operators.  Client brandsells spots must come with necessary Think TV iGaming clearance approvals. For campaigns outside of ON, all provincial iGaming guidelines apply.

NO CATEGORY OF GAMBLING OR IGAMING ADVERTISING is permitted on the following STACKTV channels: 
 
  • Cartoon Network
  • Disney Channel
  • Treehouse
  • YTV

Production

Deadline for receiving material for Corus production

  • CTV Billboards – AT LEAST 2-3 WEEKS PRIOR TO FIRST AIR DATE
  • If updating CTV Billboards frequently, all Assets and Tagline Scripts must be received at least One Week prior to each new launch date. If not, the launch date may be jeopardized.

Image/Logo Requirements 

  • MAC/Windows compatible
  • Accepted formats: AI, EPS, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, PSD – Convert fonts to outlines
  • Minimum for full screen graphics is 1920×1080 at 300 DPI

Video Requirements

  • Timecode (in/out points) to indicate which portion of the creative can be used
  • Dimensions (in pixels): 1920×1080, 16:9 (recommended)
  • Accepted file formats: .MP4, VAST (no VPAID and no .MOV)
  • Maximum file size: 10MB
  • Video bit rate: MP4 encoded in H.264 with AAC audio, 29.97 fps, 1920×1080 resolution (16:9 aspect ratio). 29.97 fps, no higher than 8 MB/s bitrate (4500-8000 Kbps)
  • Frames per second: 29.97 fps

Audio Requirements

  • Corus MUST ALWAYS supply the voice talent for CTV Billboards. Depending on availability, it will be the MALE or FEMALE streaming voice (we will do our best to accommodate client preference).
  • CTV Billboards will be produced without music unless provided by client.
  • 192 kbps or higher for AAC-LC
  • Music and sound effects can be accepted as WAV, AIFF, MP3, or embedded with the Video file – split track is preferred.  If there is a guide VO, it MUST be on a separate track.
  • Corus reserves the right to remove music, SFX or pneumonic if it interferes with the streaming voice.
